SHAMED pop star Derek Longmuir was in hiding yesterday after he was exposed in court as a pervert who kept a massive stash of child porn in his home.
The former Bay City Rollers drummer faces a possible jail sentence when he appears in court again in three weeks.
Last night, there were suggestions he may have fled to Portugal, the country where he had previously met a number of young boys, including one found in his pounds 80,000 Edinburgh flat when it was raided by police.
But despite his admission in court last Friday that he had a massive stockpile of indecent films, videos and photos of children, neighbours yesterday said he would be welcomed back.
Longmuir, 48, will be sentenced on March 24.
Fifteen-year-old Nelson Queiros, from Amadora near Lisbon, was found in the flat at the time of the September 1998 raid.
Longmuir denied any improper relationship with the boy, who was flown home to Portugal, but explicit photographs of the teenager were found.
Neighbour Shirley McIntyre, 48, said: "He has been caught red-handed with the pornographic material but there is so much innuendo about his relationship with the Portuguese boys.
"Derek has had as much press as Gary Glitter, although he was very private and Glitter was still doing shows and in the public eye."
One neighbour, who refused to give his name, said: "As I understand it he had adopted the boy and it was a father-son relationship. Nothing that has happened would turn me against Derek as a person."
